3. Research what issues there are in the locality and what ideas people have for solving them. Then find a way of using the principles to spread the message and develop positive attitudes.
1. Design a ‘Pro Social Marketing’ plan to inspire people to take pride in their community.
2. Deliver a community social action project (or projects) to address needs identified by the research.
1. “Become” Grot Hunters – identify ‘community grot spots’, and map them.
2. “Do” something – make the place look nicer.
3. “Promote” a positive image of young people.
4. “Change” how young people view others. Deliver a project where you meet people you know little about (on grounds of disability, race, culture, intergenerational etc). Learn about their lives, the difficulties they face, and what they like and what would help them.
1. “Identify” a fund or funds that young people can bid for using Grant Advisor, and “complete one”.
2. Meeting the movers and the shakers to get them onside, eg Councillors, MPs, Neighbourhood Managers, Housing, Community Safety, Police, Health Providers, Resident Groups etc.
1. Get involved in designing and delivering a youth enterprise activity that creates funding, meets local needs, unites the community and provides training and skills for employment eg gardening, Youth Tees, painting
and decorating.
2. Find out about Enterprise start-up funds.
3. Meet businesses and find out how to run one.
4. Negotiate support from businesses for projects.
