A service for any young person who thinks and feels they need representation by an independent adult.
Our unique Drop-in service for 16-21 year olds is a vibrant new information, advice, support, and signposting service that offers young people a safe place to positively interact with other young people, learn, be healthy, happy, and achieve.
SOS will provide young people with the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with volunteer youth support workers and specialist staff, access informal education and training which is AQA and ASDAN accredited, as well as having the chance to become youth mentors in their own right, and contribute to the development and running of the project.
SOS offers a crisis point for young people as well as an advice, learning and leisure centre ALL under one roof.
Opportunities to be inspired, motivated and discover personal talents; to build self-confidence, develop personal expression and learn skills which might help build a pathway towards mainstream education, training, and employment; access ICT equipment, online courses, media and other learning materials. We will provide opportunities for young people to gain AQA awards.
Develop social and independent living skills such as problem solving, negotiation skills, managing relationships and conflicts, personal finance management, job search techniques as well as such things as household skills.
The opportunity to run the social facilities offered by the centre, providing cost price meals, organising social events and specific projects. We will also try to provide where possible office space and administrative help to young people with business opportunities and ideas they wish to explore.
We encourage and promote interaction with projects that benefit the local community and help to break down the barriers which often leave young people feeling disenfranchised from their environment.
SOS offers 16 – 21 year olds an active hub, open two days a week, featuring a vibrant information and support service and a very active internet, gaming, and music café. We provide hot drinks, subsidised food, and a range of activities which contribute towards their personal development.
